The Shanghai International Circuit is a world-class motorsport track located in Jiading, Shanghai, China. Opened in 2004, it was designed by the renowned architect Hermann Tilke and is famous for its distinctive layout, which resembles the Chinese character “上” (shàng), meaning “above” or “up.” The circuit is 5.451 km (3.387 miles) long and features a mix of high-speed straights, tight corners, and technical sections, making it a challenging venue for drivers. It has hosted multiple Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix events, drawing global attention for its modern facilities and unique design. The track’s long back straight, leading into a heavy braking hairpin, is a highlight for overtaking opportunities.
