About Silverstone
The English motor racing track Silverstone Circuit is located close to the villages of Silverstone and Whittlebury in Northamptonshire. When the British Grand Prix was first held there in 1948, it became the home of the race. The inaugural event in the newly established World Championship of Drivers was the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in 1950. From 1955 to 1986, the race alternated between Silverstone, Aintree, and Brands Hatch before relocating to Silverstone permanently in 1987.
